I have never been a white man in his forties, but I imagine that a crisis at that age is a far more acute realisation of your mortality and temporality/temporariness. You also realise that you do not always get what you want, but you may get what you need – I hope, that the white men in their forties can guess who I am quoting here... Most of all you are tormented by the question: «Is this it?» This job, this position, this familiy, these achievements (the skills, the possibilities)? One of the key persons in my life, middle-aged and white (in a country where the latter factor actually meant something), had just such thoughts in his head... Sandra Jõgeva
