Tania Alexanderi mälestuste raamat „Lapsepõlv Eestis“ on põnev jutustus inimsaatustest ajaloo murdeaegadel. Autor on baltisaksa Benckendorffide ja vene Zakrevskite järeltulija. 1940. aastal abiellus ta inglise diplomaadiga ning elab Inglismaal. Selles raamatus kirjeldab ta oma Jänedal veedetud lapsepõlve (isa mõrvatakse, ema viibib kodusõja keerises Venemaal, lapsi kasvatab salapärase minevikuga iirlanna). Autor käsitleb ka oma ema käekäiku. Legendaarne Mura Benckendorff oli lähedalt seotud Maksim Gorki, Herbert Georg Wellsi ja Robert Bruce Lockhartiga.
