General Johan Laidoner (1884-1953), Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Armed Forces during the War of Independence, was later an active politician and public figure. He was one of the most outstanding representatives of his generation who achieved great merit in achieving and securing Estonia's independence. On the other hand, his actions and choices were not without contradictions, especially in the changing political winds of the 1930s.

The booklet «General Johan Laidoner» represents an extended catalogue of the exhibition on Laidoner, which opened at the Estonian War Museum in 2021. The richly illustrated catalogue reflects various aspects of Johan Laidoner's life and activities as a military man, politician, and ordinary person, the recognition he received and the preservation of his memory.
