The University of Toronto Library has an excellent collection of Slavic and East European materials. Distinguished by breadth, solidity in all basic areas, and several areas of special strength, it has been built up systematically over the last generation. The collection, now numbering more than 200 000 volumes, is the largest Slavic and East European collection in Canada and is one of the best in North America. It is indispensable to the University's teaching and research programs in the Russian and East European area and is a major resource for scholars and other readers in Canada and abroad.
The present guide will introduce this resource and, we hope, make it more accessible to members of the University of Toronto and to the larger community.
