The Soviet Baltic Republics – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – are equal and sovereign members of the friendly family of fifteen constituent republics of the Soviet Union. The area of the Soviet Baltic Republics abutting on the Baltic Sea extends for 730 kilometres from north to south and for 442 kilometres from west to east. The Soviet Baltic Republics have a total area of 174,000 sq.km and a population of over 7 million. This is a wonderful corner of the world with hundreds of unique architectural monuments and a host of other places of interest. The Soviet Baltic Republics are closely united by their common natural conditions, historical and cultural background, characteristic features of production and economic interests. In each of these Republics you will become acquainted with their original folk art, customs and traditions.
