Raamatusse on koondatud valik eesti muinasjutte M. J. Eisenilt, J. Kunderilt ja Fr. R. Kreutzwaldilt, samuti paar setu muinasjuttu.
A small selection like this cannot by far represent the whole wealth of Estonian folk tales, still we have put together a multifarious assortment. It contains humorous tales of animals, peacefully developing stories and thrilling situations, jokes and seemingly solemn beliefs, pictures of the sunny side and of the shady side of life. We hope that the book will fulfil its mission and perhaps even arouse the reader's interest to learn more about the culture of a distant nation, the Estonians.
