The basic task of the present study-aid is to afford practice in the field of stylistic analysis and, more particularly, in the stylistics colouring of words.
Part I introduces the stylistics classification of the English vocabulary on the basis of everyday speech patterns, it serves as a warming-up stage.
Part II presents a set of exercises on literary vocabulary, starting with common literary words and, later, dealing with special literary lexis.
In Part III the same division is preserved: common colloquial vocabulary, followed by special colloquial words. The last section of both parts contains revision exercises.
Part IV offers a selection of extracts for overall analysis.
