Raamat annab ülevaate Eesti iseseisvusajast kahe maailmasõja vahel ja riigi okupeerimisest Nõukogude Venemaa poolt.
The Red Army marched into the Baltics in June 1940, and thus began the occupation of the three countries. However, this first occupation was not of long duration. A year later, in June 1941, Germany attacked her treaty partner, the Soviet Union. /.../ After the fortunes of war had turned in their favor, the Soviets, following on the heels of the retreating Germans, reoccupied the Baltic countries. That was in September 1944. This date marked the beginning of the second Soviet occupation, which keeps Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians in captivity to the present time /1973/.
